Since the bands inception barely ten months ago and before taking their music to a live audience Songs decided to document this initial body of work in the recording studio. With four songs written and a mere afternoon booked at Tardis Studios (who specialise in 'esoteric and vintage, recording equipment') their self-titled E.P was conceived live; in the same manner the band go about most they do, rather simply and to the point. Yet the results they yield here are somewhat of an oddity. With just over 10 minutes worth of music, is this charmingly amateurish or restraint considered to it s fullest?
Either way these are pop songs unashamedly stripped back, revealing the bands mutual appreciation for the subtle songwriting obscurities that bind together the early Flying Nun catalogue.
